Dialogue

Communicating the company’s vision through dialogue between executives and youth:
Reaching students and building connections with future stakeholders

Overview

This program consists of dialogues between corporate leaders and young people who will shape the next generation.
Since its launch in October 2021, the initiative has been conducted with more than 30 companies.
The feedback we’ve received shows that it has been effective not only for strengthening hiring and IR-related branding, but also in delivering messages to their own employees.
In addition to The Nikkei and The Nikkei Online Edition, this initiative is partnered with Mynavi Corporation to reach younger audiences.

The program is recommended for organizations facing these challenges

You are struggling to communicate your purpose inside and outside the company

Through dialogue with young people, you can convey your company’s purpose not as an abstract concept but in real terms that young people can relate to.
When your company’s young employees appear in the video, have them describe your company’s purpose in their own words. This will encourage other employees to take a personal interest in the company’s purpose, and it will convey an authentic image of your company to the outside world.

You are making progress on human capital management, but you have trouble communicating specific initiatives.

The essence of human capital management depends on how company leaders listen to youth and share their values through dialogue. Hearing young people explain how this program helped them meet new challenges or how dialogue with managers helped them grow serve as concrete examples of the benefits of investing in capital management.

You have difficulty interacting with youth and building brand awareness.

A company’s future-oriented posture and commitments to social contributions is more likely to resonate with young people if they hear it from their peers. For example, if it’s young people themselves who say that the company is seriously committed to addressing societal issues, that message is more likely to resonate with other young people, which in turn will reinforce your brand image and boost brand awareness among the younger demographic.

You are having difficulty standing out for hiring and internships.

Communicating your workplace culture and approach to human resources will lend credibility to your hiring outreach. Not only will this help your company stand out, but it will also prevent post-hiring mismatches, and it will facilitate communication with prospective employees. Furthermore, the fact that many of The Nikkei’s readers are parents in their 40s to 60s means that the parents of prospective new employees will have a favorable view of your company and will be more willing to give their consent.
